How the boat came to be.
Well, having been making models of all different descriptions over the last twenty-ish years I thought that I might like to make a working scale model of a type VII German U boat. Initially, I didnt have enough money to afford the Robbe U47 kit that I wanted as I was a student - but with the trappings of a decent salary, decided to splash out on the Otw designs kit. Not cheap, but then never a truer word said than 'You get what you pay for.'
The crunch came in June 2004, when my dad had a heart attack. I decided that his days of running after model aircraft had come to an end (not that he'd had the opportunity due to daft council regs. in our area).
A good excuse to order that kit!
